For over a century, the name Dornier has been revolutionizing the game of the aviation industry.
It first rose to prominence in the 1920s and 1930s as a manufacturer of large, all-metal flying boats, including the Do X (the largest flying boat of its time back in 1929).
Dornier also built a series of successful land planes, including the Komet (Comet) and Merkur (Mercury) that were used by Lufthansa & other European carriers during the 1920s & early 30s.
Claude Dornier embarked on a world tour in 1930 on the Do X, an aircraft of his own design. 30 years later, another Dornier would take on the silver torch. After forever changing aviation in Germany, the legendary aviation name brought its brilliance to the Philippines.
A boy sat in the cockpit of his grandfather Claude ’ s Do-24. That boy, Iren Dornier, dreamed of flying his own aircraft. In time, that dream would become reality. Young Iren almost lost hope when when the Do-24 aircraft was decommissioned, but he kept the dream and took a chance with the purchase of the Do-24ATT from the Deutsch Museum in 1998.
Five years, ten thousand miles and nearly six million dollars later, he brought his treasured aircraft and its legacy back to life in the Philippines. In 2004, Iren himself went on a world tour with UNICEF, flying the Do 24ATT. His mission was for spreading awareness, his message was for chasing one ‘ s dreams. “The Flight of Dreams ” raised $61,000.00 for the education of Filipino youth. Iren ‘ s route followed his grandfather ‘ s path all those years ago, in honor of his lifelong inspiration. Though the tour may have ended in 2005, Iren ’ s inspiring journey continues as strong as ever.
Dornier was founded in 2008, a spin-off from the maintenance arm of SEAIR , Inc., when the latter partnered with Tiger Airways Holdings, Inc. Ltd. to form Tiger Airways Philippines which was later acquired by CebGo.
Dornier is engaged in Aircraft & Aircraft Systems Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services, which was privately operated until it entered into commercial MRO in 2013 Dornier is now a company dedicated to excellence.
